November 21, 2017–We’re proud to announce EnviroMedia’s student lounge at the University of Texas Belo Center for New Media has been named for Joel and Lena Davis. They are the parents of our cofounder Valerie Salinas-Davis, who received her Bachelor of Journalism in Public Relations from the UT College of Communication in 1985.
“EnviroMedia celebrated its 20th anniversary this year,” said Valerie. “My parents put me through UT, and then helped me with my investment in EnviroMedia. By helping me, they have also indirectly helped UT’s entrepreneurs of tomorrow who spend many hours studying at the Belo Center.”
When the Belo Center for New Media was being constructed, EnviroMedia made a significant donation to its development fund. The center opened in 2012, and is home to KUT Radio (Austin’s NPR Station) and many interactive classrooms.
Lena Davis received her undergraduate degree in accounting from the State University of New York (Plattsburgh) and in 1998 earned her teaching certificate from the UT College of Education. Joel Davis received an accounting degree from the University of Tulsa, and graduate degrees from the University of Illinois and Auburn University. They live in New Braunfels, Texas.
Valerie’s sister, Cathy Davis Levine, also graduated from UT, earning a Bachelor of Arts in biology and a teaching certificate in 1991. She is EnviroMedia’s Operations Manager and just celebrated her 15th anniversary with the company.
